Testing and Evaluations

Sometimes the biggest hindrance to healing can be a lack of a proper diagnosis. Modern Science is always changing and new forms of testing are becoming available to help pinpoint the root cause of symptoms. Below are some resources you may find helpful in your search of what is available.

AVAILABLE TESTS AND EVALUATIONS TO CONSIDER

Quantitative EEG

A QEEG measures the activity in various parts of the brain. It helps to explain symtoms and can also be used as a pre-requisite to neurofeedback.

24 Hour EEG

A 24 hour EEG usually tests for epileptic seizures.

Sleep Study

A sleep study measures activity in your sleep to detect movements, brain activity, breathing, and waking periods. This can be done during the night or during the day. They are used to test for things like sleep apnea and narcolepsy.

Dynamic Posturography

The DP test measures balance control and helps identify abnormalities in the ability for someone to maintain effective balance. Measurements are taken with eyes open and closed.

Videonystagmography (VNG) and or Video Oculography (VOG) Testing

VNG measures the movements of the eyes directly through infrared cameras to detect causes for dizziness and other problems. VOG also tests for the ability of the eyes to track a target hold a gaze, fast and slow eye movements and response to stimuli.

Genetic Testing

We are not a victim of our genetics but it does help to test for specific expressions to make sure that our lifestyle and healing plan are complimenting our genes rather than working against them.

SPECT Imaging Scan

SPECT stands for Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography. It is a nuclear medicine study that evaluates blood flow and activity in the brain. Basically, brain scans show three things:
Areas of the brain that have healthy activity
Areas of the brain that have too little activity
Areas of the brain that have too much activity
Then based on what we see, our job is to balance your brain—to calm it down if it is working too hard or stimulate it if it is underactive.
